"Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. "- UN.ORG
Inspired by TedTalks, Brandy Michele Adams Founder of WAAS creates and builds the lecture series, ToughTalks, to help women express difficult topics in a safe and supportive environment. We are experiencing an age of acceleration, a rise of the divine feminine and all of her attributes. We are at a turning point in society, and in order to become enlightened, we have to shine a light in the darker shadows of our experiences. Adams has invited Cicely Rue, Founder of The Shit Podcast to join this year's efforts to tackle many topics that hold us as women.
The intention of this workshop is to discuss tough topics, how they affect us, how they manifest themselves as emotions, and finally, to develop tools for emotional agility and immunity to drama and societal expectations.
TOPIC: Gender Equality
*NOTE: ToughTalks are a safe space for Women.
Break the silence and join our ToughTalk conversation exploring the issues and solutions surrounding inequality between men and women!
We will consider some of the following:
-Is there more we can do to bring gender equality in business, government, and in the DFW society?
-How do you respond to sexual harassment?
-What encounters have you experienced that have made you more aware of gender inequality?
-Are there initiatives or tactics that can help reverse sexism?
-Where is gender equality still a huge problem?
-Am I denied the credibility of my words because I am a woman?
-How can we address and change misogynistic environments?
-Do I deny myself of opportunities because they are traditionally male-dominated?
-How can women negotiate to close gender pay gaps in the workplace?
-What kind of changes have you made to identify solutions for issues surrounding gender inequality?
-What's still standing in the way of progress towards equality?
